FRIEND CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES-SPECIAL MEETING
DECEMBER 19, 2018
Mayor Knoke called the special meeting of the City Council to order at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall. Advanced notice of the meeting was given by posting notice of the meeting in three prominent places within the community. All proceedings shown were taken while the meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
Mayor Judith Knoke presided, and Kim Goossen recorded the proceedings. The following Councilmembers were present: Phyllis Ryan, Harlan Schrock and Stan Krause. Shane Stutzman was absent. A quorum being present, and the meeting duly convened, the following proceedings were had and done.
As required by the Nebraska Open Meetings Act, Mayor Knoke announced that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act has been posted on the south door of the City Hall meeting room for all in attendance to review.
Mayor Knoke announced her recommendation to the Council of Shawn Gray for the position of full-time police officer. Motion to accept Mayor Knoke’s recommendation of Shawn Gray for the position of full-time police officer with a starting hourly pay of $16.50 was made by Shrock, seconded by Ryan. On roll call voting aye, Krause, Ryan, Schrock. Nays none. Stutzman absent. Motion carried.
At this time Shawn Gray, read and signed the Oath of Office for the position of Police Officer for the City of Friend.
Discussion was had and it was agreed that consideration would be given to increase Officer Gray’s pay once he resides in Friend and when he advances to the position of Chief of Police.
No further business to come before the City Council, motion was made by Krause, seconded by Schrock, to adjourn the meeting. On roll call voting aye, Schrock, Ryan, Krause. Nays none. Stutzman absent. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
